Spying: art and science

The linked article refers to some of the spying technology then in use.
The heavily science-orientated SIGINT discipline has never been more important than today, but it is nonetheless the new kid on the block in the secret world of espionage.
HUMINT has never gone away – nor will it.  And as a distinct discipline, when practised as such, it will always be more art than science.
A handful of Operators are masters of this art (we could name one), and they are rightly prized for their sublime skills.
Who knows but that Ben MacIntyre may live long enough to write the biography of one of the most extraordinary British spies of the 21st century?
